Server 2008 R2 Raid 5?

I was working on separating my ZFS server from my ESXi box since I was having stability issues with my server. I ordered some better hardware to replace my ESXi box and decided to roll the storage in to a separate box.

For now what I have set up is:
DH61BE Intel board (H61, 6 SATA ports, Intel PRO 1000 gig nic)
G620 SB processor
8GB Ram
5x Samsung 2TB drives (Storage)
1x WD 320GB drive (OS)

I've read that windows software raid is "slow" and "unreliable" but since I have it apart (and all my data backed up) I wanted to try a few things before going back to OI/ZFS. I do have a TechNet Pro subscription so getting Microsoft server OS's is not an issue.

For my test setup I did Server 2008 R2 Standard and did a raid-5 of the 5 drives in disk manager.

So far performance does not seem to bad, testing copying a 25GB MKV (Blu Ray Rip) over a gig connection from a windows 7 machine I am seeing ~87MB/s (around 5 min to copy the file). That doesn't seem to bad to me. It seems on par to what I was seeing from ZFS.

Do people expect more?

I prefer windows hosts as I work with them every day. Most of my data is static (movies, music) and anything important gets backed up at least weekly. Is there really any advantage to using ZFS over this?
 
I am running Server 2008 at home for my file server, and it has been solid and dependable. I think most people's reasoning for running OI/Solaris is due to ZFS--checksumming and data protection. I am looking in to changing over myself, but sure like the simplicity of everything just working how I want it.
