Is it seriously the fUnc? I've heard of people who have it wearing out easily. I'm looking for the best replacement for my worn Ratpadz GS.
 
fUnc,IceMat,Steelpad.. Are my votes even though I used to use a RatPadz GS which I truely loved until it started to wear the crap out of my mouse feet and I got rid of it and now the feet are almost gone and its barely usable and I have no money so... No more gaming for me for now..

I agree though. A good mousepad/mouse combo is the best way to improve frag rate and is quite cost effective. There was that slick surface that is stuck onto a hard surface but I cannot remember the name of it. It was possibly copper colored and reasonably cheap.
 
all pads will wear down after use, it's a fact of life k.

func is good. i use the dkt pad from everglide, and its nice as well and cheap.

a mousepad, similar to a mouse, is based on preference. things u need to ask yourself is what kind of sensitivity do u use, and how much u are willing to spend. for a low sens mouse u may want a bigger pad such as a fatpad or dktpad (which can have a width of 14+ inches). if u have a high sens, u wont have to worry about size. another thing to consider is slickness. do u prefer hard surfaces such as steelpad, or icemat. or, do u prefer cloth such as dkt, supermat, func. so there u have it. it dosnet fucking matter, a mousepad wont make u any better at cs or ut kthx. :)

btw to those that a mouse/pad will make u that much better ur idiots. its about what you're used to, and what you're comfortable with. (yes upgrading from an old optical mouse to say an mx will improve ur accuracy a bit, but only by so much)
 
i use the fUnc. the difference from my wooden table is a lot :p mouse slides all over the place now, i had to play for a couple of days before i got used to it sliding so much, but its all good now

I don't recall saying, that a new mouse/pad will make you MUCH better, I only said that you will see the most preformance gain when buying a new mouse. Maybe you should read my post and UNDERSTAND it before you call us idiots.

sweet, im finally in someone's sig! I didn't mean that a mouse is the most effective way of making your computer better, but I think it is way more important than getting a new mousepad. :p
 
LOL classic. Personally i use either my desk (it gets dirty quickly, i just need to clean it every now and then) Or i use a cloth mousepad. It depends like someoen said on whether you use ultra sensitivity, the type of mouse you have, how much friction you want etc.
 
I have used the original RatPadz and I liked them ALOT coming from a cloth pad lol.

I then upgraded to a RatPadz GS. I didnt like it one bit, it's cheaper plastic, the edge has too much of a lip and hurts your wrist.

I finally got a fUnc pad, holy nice. This thing dosen't ware at all. It's a beautiful surface, not noisy when you move it compaired to the RatPadz. It goes perfect with my MS Intelli 3.0.

You wont go wrong buying this thing, oh and it comes with a nice metal case:)

Haha the joy of wireless mice . . . me too. Nice and relaxing while leaning back and surfing the net, not so good for gaming though.

it provides the comfortable soft feel and durability of a standard cloth mouse pad with the smoothness of a func.

ive bought almost every mousepad that was ever available (sadly) and i can honestly say its the best pad i ever owned.

I don't know how this turned into a 1/2 mouse discussion. I was talking about a mousepad. :D Oh, and just for the record, I have a MX500. That can be considered a good mouse, no? :confused:

I mean, I know that it's a fact of life that mousepads wear out. But in less than 2 weeks? Come on now. That's about how long it takes for my Ratpadz GS to wear out, and I've been through about 3 of 'em. So all I'm looking for is a pad/surface that will last me for about 5 months or more.
 
I'm also looking to get a new mouse pad. And the Xtrac pro HS (I don't remember exactly what it was called) reviewers liked better then all of the above mentioned.
 
Im using the XTRAC Hammer for my MX 700. I play a lot of FPS games and love this combo. The pad is HUGE, so huge that about a quarter of it is under my keyboard so it will fit on my desk.

How long have you had it? Does it wear out easily?
 
I use a variety of mice, and a variety of mousepads. The best I've found has been the C4 mousemat from CSHyde.

Their site may not be the best but they ship fast, the products come nicely sealed, and they have some damn good CS if there's a problem.

To the person using the MX500, that's what I'm using on this computer right now, and it's perfect. Never once had a skip or slow down, no ware on it at all, much faster than using the oak wood surface of my desk, and overall a nice feel. I do recommend the little teflon mice feet disc things though, they help also.

I've used MS Intellimouse Explorer corded, wireless 1.0, wireless 2.0, Logitech MX500, 510, 700, and an HP mouse all on different surfaces. If you have one of the older MS Intellimouse Explorers, you may experience some skipping here or there with the C4 MouseMats, but that's a case by case thing, as I did get it with one mouse/pad, but not with another of the exact same combo. On any newer mouse, there are no problems what-so-ever. I love the speed and accuracy with the MX500 and the C4 mat, it's a great combo.
 
How does the C4 mat wear out over time? Does it get "frictiony"? Or does it just start forming holes over places that get worn?
 
Like many others, I have used a bunch of mousepads. It is so personal, you cannot take one opinion. For me, the black Icemat was the best for the Boomslang I was using. I really liked the Ratzpad, but it seemed to wear down quickly. The rough side of the func worked well, but I felt that the smooth side would slip. Ironically, many people say the opposite of this. Again, it is what you like and you might end up paying some money before you find it.

For optical, I completely fell for the Xtrax Pro HS. For me, I repeat, for me it is the best balance between being too smooth or too rough. Has just enough friction for my taste. It really does track better. It felt immediatly better than the Ratzpad GS (seemed too slick, but tracked well) that I was using at the time and the Icemat which was my other love with the ball mouse. Something did not seem right with the func with the wireless. By the way, my MX700 tracked like shit on the Icemat despite the fact that it is validated by the company. All these pads were good but the winners in my personal review are the Icemat and Xtrac Pro HS.
 
Ok, guys, thanks for the input, but no one has answered my real question yet.

How do all these mousepads wear out? How long does it take to wear out? Specifically the fUnc, Xtrac, and C4.

they so rippede off the supermat, its the same diminisons and it feels almost the same

Ive had it for about 2 months and it shows no sign of wear on my mouse or the pad. A friend had one and his showed wear after about 4 months.
 
i have my funC for a couple of months now, and its not showing any wear. i also use the same mouse that your using, just dont forget to put on mouse feet, that way, your mousepad will stay good as new :D.

i had the Ratpadz GS and XTRAC mousepads, both wore out in a couple of months.

What kind of mouse feet do you recommend? Right now I am using plain old Teflon tape for the mouse feet.

I had a ratpadz and it wore out my mouse so much i just bought a new one in combination with a func1030, go and get it off newegg. I bought the black one. the whole blue orange thing is too bright for me. and its heaven!
 
With the c4, I have yet to notice any wear...and during my tests with other mice, trying to find one I liked, I used several with no mouse feet. I do highly recommend putting feet on though, as they do help not only with speed but will make it last longer. I originally received a C4 as a birthday gift from a friend several months ago, he got me the 16x16 one which I then cut to about 9x9 and 9x7 to make myself two mousepads for two computers in one spot. A few weeks later I then got a second 16x16 mat to use at work. I love it with my logitech MX500, which is what the computer I'm on the most uses. Between gaming in MoH:AA, UT2K4, some misc. single player games here and there, and numerous hours of browsing and general use, I can't say I've noticed anything bad or changed with the pad. I put it right on my oak desk and it's worked perfect since.
 
I used to use a piece of printer paper.. recently upgraded to a quarter section of newspaper. Can't beat the price, the size, or the availablilty. Plus, it makes a great place to jot down notes in a hurry, altho printer paper was better for this cause it was plain.. newspaper works fine.
