Ok...Ive been playing through Serious Sam First and Second encounters again when I went to look something up on gamefaqs really quick.

There is a serious sam 2 for which I didn't know existed and I kinda though second enounter was serious sam 2....

Looked it up and it looks kinda silly.

Anyone played it? Is it like the first one?

It's similar to the first one, but better in every way. Level designs vary more and it increases the levels of quirky SS humor. If you enjoyed 1st/2nd encounter, you should enjoy SS2. It's one of my favorite games of all time. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to play through it with SS3 on the upcoming games radar :)

thats why I am playing the other ones again because of SS 3 coming.

Most people didn't like it as much as the first two, and I'd say it wasn't quite as good, but it's still a great game and some parts of it are even better than the first ones. It's also a much longer game.

Fuck Serious Sam 2.... Total Console POS.....

auto jump, can't go in water, no more reload....The original had an odd seriousness to it while being completely off the wall at the same time. Open-esque maps that gave you flexibility to move about.

#2 is just linear maps and goofy for the sake of trying to be goofy....Sorry, SS2 Fails.

There is a demo, give it a try. I will say that I bought the game, and I had fun with it. However, it isn't anywhere near as good as the first two.

Nope, nowhere near as good.
Way too cartoony.
Mouse support is bad also.

As for SS3, it is a prequel.
No need to play SS2 just to get up to date on SS3.

I liked it. Played through it in one long day with my wife and had a lot of fun.

Then we opened it to the internet for 16-player coop. The only downside was that whenever I came back to the server, the game had been finished and it wouldn't automatically restart the game.

I think there were issues with MP coop, a lot of teleporting. They really went all out on the game. Lots of humor, lots of levels, extended cutscenes between the levels. But they changed the game to be too cartoony. There was a large variety of locales, as if they were trying to tech demo the game engine. The "city" level kind of sucked for the demo, I think there was another one out also that gives a better representation. anyway end result is that it is a fun game where they tried a lot of stuff. some of it worked out, others not so much.
