Let me just apologize in advance for the seriously basic questions I have.

Sorry, I have the noobonic plague!!

Anyway, I've been successfully building my own machines since my first 386 rig back in...'94-'95? However, I've never really gotten serious about the OC thing. I'd like to give it a whirl.

First off, if there's an "Intro to OC'ing" type guide anyone can point me to, that would be great. I'm really starting from scratch here. I don't know what you're all talking about with the 1:1 and 5:4 stuff, changing voltages really scares me, and OC'ing my vid card is also new territory for me.

I am fairly fluent with the FSB and multiplier, and OC'ing the CPU by itself, but keeping the AGP/PCI bus up with it I'm a little lost on.

Here's my current rig's spec, all with current drivers and bios':
Abit AI7 MB
P4 2.6 w/800 FSB
Windows XP SP 2
1 Gig Corsair XMS PC3200 Ram (CAS 2, 2-2-2-5?)
Radeon 9600XT (Just until my X800 arrives)
2 - Seagate 80GB SATA's in Raid 0
Coolermaster Case
Antec 350w PSU

Should I even worry about OC'ing this rig?

Thanks for any input!! :)

Does it handle you're programs without skipping? then it's fine... :)

I odn't know if this helps.. but some motherbords lock the AGP and PCI buss so you don't have to worry about them when OCing.. but say they aren's locked.. all you have to do is even the ratio out so you don't fry something.. these aren't correct numbers.. but say your AGP bus is 33 MHz and your PCI is 66 MHz,, and you over clock your CPU to 100 MHz.. then you habe to set a 1/3:2/3 ratio.. something along the lines of that.. i've onlt OCed with boards that lock the AGP bus and all that other crap.. as for voltages.. you only up the voltage if you experience instabillity.. so for example.. you up your FSB then you test with Prime 95.. if it fails prime.. you can try upping the Vcore a bit.. see if it works.. but you have to start paying attention to the temp cuase more voltage - higher temps.. you also have to keep your memories rated speed in mind.. you don't want PC2100 RAm running at a 400 FSB.. i don't know if that helps .. and i don't know any tutorials.. i'm pretty new to OCing myself
