serial to usb converter?

Hey,
I have a GPS receiver that can hook up to a serial port, but I don't have a serial port on my laptop. Is there a reliable serial to usb converter? I don't want it to mess up how my computer by emulating anything. I need this so I can interface the receiver with mapping software.

Its going to need to emulate a com port. There are a few on the web. Most likely youll need to order one over the internet.
 
i got a serial 2 ps2 converter, and then a ps2 to usb... but idk about ne serial->usb converters...
