So I was wanting to know a few things. I read about the issue with shielding SATA cables and was thinking about running my SATA cables under my MOBO so they are out of the way. I didn't know if
a. There is a maximum length that SATA 3.0 Gb/s works at ? I don't want to lose stability.
b. Is it ok, as far as interference goes, to actually run the cables under the MOBO?
c. is there a difference between a SATA 300 (if there is such a cable) cable and a SATA 150 cable? I do not have it in front of me now but I could have sworn that when I was plugging in my WD1200JS into my Gigabyte 8i955x Royal that it (the MOBO guide or a sheet that came with the MOBO) said that I had to use the cables provided with the board as they were SATA 300 cables and that normal SATA cables would not work.
I asked a local computer shop, whom I don't buy parts from for a reason, about the speed thing and they said there is no difference.
Can anyone back up the claim or answer those question?
