Sequential Write Speeds between OCZ & Crucial

I'm in the market for another SSD and I'm looking at drive specs and I see that the Sequential Write speeds for Crucial SSD's are MUCH slower compared to other brands. For example

OCZ Vertex 3 120GB-Sequential Write up to 500MB

Crucial M4 128GB-Sequential Write up to 175MB

Why is there such a difference?

OCZ counts on compression making their writes faster. If you are writing files that are compressible that is good. For real world data your mileage will vary. Media types will not compress again so the real world performance for these will be 1/2 the quoted value..

Also while you are looking at it remember the Sequential numbers (500MB/s ...) are not the reason why you purchase an SSD. Its the IOPS that matters most.

Buy for reliability and reputation/service, not speed. They are all fast enough in real world use that you'll never be able to tell the difference.
