I was just over at www.ati.com website looking fordrivers for my new x1950pro and noticed a whole seperate downloadable driver for the x1950pro.

So far I have tried the drivers that came with the card, cat 6.8, downloaded the cat 6.12 and now tried these x1950 drivers. I got better performance with the x1950pro drivers, over a 1000 more points in 3dmark06.

What drivers is everyone using?

Also I noticed ATItool supports every card but the x1950pro. Wtf up with these cards? lol

Could have to do with the new 80nm GPU the X1950 pro use or the internal crossfire capability.

OK, I got slightly better 06 score only about 30 points at default clocks. Aquamark scores were also up but not by alot.

Yea I dunno. I uninstall all my drivers and reinstall. I tried eachdriver 2 different time. Both time the x1950pro driver gave me a score of around 4000 where the cat 6.12 gave me a score of 3000.

Well aside from that I took my VisionTek x1950pro back. I didn;t care for how the fan ran at 100% ata ll times and I thought it was kind of shady that for whatever reason the cats don't support the over drive with Visiontek(not that 5mhz is a lot, just doesn't seem right). Also i was getting graphic corruption(heat related maybe?) in NWN2 that I didn't get with my x800xt.

I'll get another one but a different brand and the 512mb version when I come across one.

Thanks for sharing your experience

I would use the special drivers on mine, but I want to fold, so Cat 6.11s for me. Things seem to run fine, although I must admit, my last card was a Geforce2.

I gained 110 3d06 marks from the x1950pro drivers over 6.12's, but thats probably attributable to the fact that for whatever reason, 6.12's saw my video card w 1400 mhz memory, and the x1950pro drivers saw it at its true setting of 1600 (sapphire ultimate spec)

Now that the Cat 7's have been released, do you all prefer the specific x1950pro drivers or the Cat 7's?

Well as far as I know the only drivers at this point that support F@H and x1950 series of cards are 6.11 drivers. 6.11, 6.12 and 7.1 all see my vid card at 580/1400 (reference stock speed), but only the x1950pro spec drivers see my card at ultimate stock of 580/1600.
