I'm about to order some new headphones cause me old ones are breaking down.. there some pos 5.1 headphones (they looked cool at the time, unfortunately I've grown to hate them with a passion  ) and now it's time to get some new headphoners. I don't know to much about headphones.. all i know is that i want some good quality/looking/rox your box off headphones. Now, I was swimming through newegg (sorry I don't surf) and I found these Sennheiser HD555.

I'm a multi application user. I play stuff like HL2, CS:S, etc. I watch Movies, and I listen to music a lot on my computer. Um... are the Sennheisy HD555 a good choice.. I'm looking to spend around 100$ for som goo headphones;)

I'd recommends the HD280 Pros.. they're about 80 any decent place you look, and they sound fantastic. guess really it depends on how much you want to spend but they produce excellent sound and are comfy along as you don't wear glasses + headphones for extended hours. They're probably a little bigger and they have about 32 dB of noise attenuation as well as circumaural;. so they'll block out quite a bit of outside sound.

I'd recommend open headphones over closed. The only open Sennheiser headphone I've ever listened to is the HD650, which I would definitely recommend, but unfortunately, due to budget limitations, you won't be able to get it...

i just went with the hd555 just cause i almost had the exact amount to spend

Those are great, you will not be disappointed.

I'd personally look at Grado/Alessandro for great sound, but they are not really too comfortable if you spend alot of time in front of your computer.

no, grados are not practical for gaming. The sound stage is way too small for gaming. Besides they are rather forward and agress which can be fatiguing after a while. Senn HD555's are a much better all-around headphone and damn good for gaming.

Grado's suck. the sennheiser 280HD are nice for entry level closed headphones. They will wow you if all you've ever listed too before were $20 headphones that came with whatever mp3/cd player you purchased. The 555 should be good. I haven't heard them before but I would hazard a guess that they're similar to the 280's but just open, so a bit better sounding. When I get the money I really want to get a pair of the 650's. The 280's really sold me on their quality enough to want to get a pair of their higher ends.

555s are damn fine gaming headphones. so are the 595s. both work well out of a soundcard or receiver or PSP or whatever lol.

Or just skip the 280s get something like the 595s. It will save you money in the long run, and your head will thank you for it (the 280s are very tight.) Looking back, I would have done it that way if I could have done it over.
