Ok here's my problem... I was planning on getting a whole new computer in April, but I can't come up with the cash. So I figure I'm going to buy some parts that I can keep for my new system and use them for the time being on my current system. I want to buy these:
-Samsung 955DF 19" Flat Monitor
-Logitech z5300 5.1 speakers
-Sennheiser HD457 or HD477 headphones
I'm pretty finalized on the first two items, but they're still open for discussion. The reason this is in the audio section is for the last item, the headphones. I'd like to make it clear before anyone says anything that wastes space. These are the only two models I am going to choose from. I live in Canada, and I can either buy the HD457 from NCIX.com for $69.99 CAD with my order of speakers and monitor, or I can buy the HD477 from my local Futureshop (Canadian equivalent of Bestbuy) for $99.99 CAD.
The specs of the two are almost the same:
HD457- <0.5% harmonic distortion, 25hz to 21khz range, 114dB.
HD477- <0.2% harmonic distortion, 37hz to 21khz range, 109dB.
I don't really know exactly what these numbers mean, except for the range. The HD457's seem like a good deal to me. They are $30 cheaper. But I'm not really too sure. Hoping someone here can help me out. They will be used on my computer for gaming, listening to music (mostly metal, and rock), and maybe for my portable (Sony Minidisc player, maybe eventually and iPod).
