Sempron Overclocking tips?

Okay I purchased a cheapy Soltek Qbic with a Sempron 3100+ in it. I bought this comp just to play around with it. I had the FSB sitting @ 230mhz, and when I try to make the substantial bump to 245, it freezes on reboot - before i can get to bios and change it back. (which means i have to open it up to clear cmos) I tried giving it a small voltage jump from 1.4v to 1.45v to get the same result. It's not running over 50º C.. what would cause this? The ram is generic, a 1gb stick of pc3200 -> but it runs @ cas2.5.. ideas?
 
Best advice I can give you is to search at SffTech.com. Oh, and get some gasket material to go on that case- rattles, but it sure is pretty.
 
i don't have any rattles. The thing is dead silent. Even with my Yamaha and Klipsch subs bumping in unison, I hear nothing.

anyone else have any ideas?
 
I've exerienced the same thing with my Sempron. I have a 2800+ I pushed to 179mhz FSB, totally stable, running very cool. As soon as I try 180+ though, no matter the voltage or anything else I've tried monkeying with, it won't even post. Have to clear the CMOS. Haven't found out what it was, I was just told to be happy I got any overclock out of these chips. I know that doesn't help, but you're not alone at least. I too wonder why they seem to hit an OC wall. :confused:

any oc with these chips?! they're stock @ 1.4v! And (because of that) run cool. These babies could be monster overclockers! (if the multiplier wasn't locked! :( )
