Sempron Compatibility

Sorry if this is a stupid question but will Socket A Semprons be compatibly with older Socket A mobos with chipsets like the KT400? Just wondering, gonna build my friend a cheap setup, Semprons look like good alternatives to the Bartons/Thoroughbreds. Mobo will be a Asus A7v8x-x. Thanks.

Yeah, any motherboard that can handle the 166 MHz FSB should do it.

problem is with the sempron is that oveclocking is near non existant, so far. With an XP non barton you could raise the FSB to 333 and totally speed the entire system up. With the Sempron you don't have multipliers or much FSB to play around with. It is very cheap, though.
