Selling a Case

without the box shipping is going to be lots of fun.

also. rules say no price checks - if you want a good idea of what you should ask though head to ebay and watch a few auctions.

Without the factory box I wouldn't even bother trying to ship. Go local.

I wouldnt ship it without the original box otherwise getting FedEx or UPS to make a custom box for it, at which point, it is most defenitly cheaper for the buyer to just go to the egg and buy a new one straight from there.

Sell local!

All you really need to do is find a box that is big enough to fit your both your case and 1" thick styrofoam for padding. It could be a tall order, but if you work somewhere that regularly gets in shipments of stuff for inventory, you could probably find a big enough box and the padding you need fairly easily. That's how I shipped out my Antec 900. Shipping was around $20, though.

If your workplace doesn't get in shipments of items that size, just go to a thrift store or toy store and ask if they would if you checked what they were going to take out to recycling or trash. There's no shortage of boxes and padding that companies are throwing away or recycling. You just have to go look.

It would be easier to sell locally, of course. But sometimes that just doesn't work out.

just shipped an older antec case w/ a boxed mobo inside and fedex charged me $1 for each 1lb costing $28. It was going to Ohio. but i had did a trade with an ars member. Instincts told me to ship parcel post. Luckily i had a box from a monitor that i had did a rma and it had two pieces of foam and was able to get some free peanuts. Personally its a hassle. Deal locally

You can purchase a box at Uhaul store or Storage Mart. It only cost about $4-$8. I have shipped several giant cases like Antec 1200 (38lbs), Cosmos S 1100 (38lbs), Lian Li V2000 (33lbs), and the max shipping fee was only around $40 from Mid West to either West coast or East coast.

1. You'll probably make very little money after shipping (+1 to selling locally or finding other uses)
2. What worked for me in 10-20 instances is the following (in order of packing steps): 1) plastic bag to protect from dust & liquids 2) wrap case tightly into 2 layers of carton: front-side-back-side + top-side-bottom-side 3) box with 0.5-2.0" inches space on each side. You can stuff that space with styrofoam sheets, small boxes, etc.
3. I'd expect shipping to be around $25 (USPS Parcel Post), which I'll recommend over alternatives.

I shipped a case once, and probably wouldn't do it again. I used the original box and UPS damaged it, even though it only had to go about an hour away from me. The buyer said that it looked like UPS stuck a forklift fork in the side. So if you do ship, don't skimp on insurance.

shipped a case once. will definitely advocate selling locally. far less of a hassle. you'll walk away with more money, too.
