Is it better to have a lesser resolution with a better brand name company, or to have a not so well known company and a high resolution. Is the quality that different?

I'm thinking about selling my Samsung 32" 720p LCD 3000:1 Dynamic contrast ratio for a 1080p Westinghouse 37" lcd monitor with a 1000:1 contrast ratio.

What do you guys think? Also is there any good place to sell a tv? Other than ebay...

good place to sell a tv? it cost me like $1,600 i dont kno how much i can get for it now

Unless you are using it as PC monitor I don't see the point of getting the Westy.

There is no 1080p content, and the Samsung will likely do better displaying 720p and 1080i content.

The PS3 will not have 1080p games. If you are talking about Blu-Ray movies then yes that and future HD-DVD players will allow 1080p playback.

blue-ray will be 1080P. PS3 is unknown but it might be safe to assume games will mostly be 720p. Personally if I was putting down 1000-3000 on a tv I would want it to last more than a couple years and buying one that has 1080p support is a good way to make it last longer. I won't buy a tv until its 40-50" is 1080p for under 2500.

TV's are only getting bigger cheaper and higher res and with Blu-Ray coming out it will boost the sales of these types of displays IMO.

the ps3 will have 1080p games warhawk and grand truismo have been confirmed to be in full 1080p hd

I don't think that 1080p will catch on honestly. 95% of people that own HD TVs have TVs that are 720p/1080i capable. Would anybody disagree with me on that one? 720p/1080i has been set in a standard (obviously, if you look at TV manufacturers). Only Blu-Ray, some internet sources and a handful of P$3 games will hit 1080p . . . that's it. I expect a newer, higher resolution to be out quicker than 1080p is considered to becoming a standard.
