Java is not pass-by-reference it is pass-by-value.

Are you trying to say that it's passing references by their value? Is there some other way to pass references? Or are you saying that intrinsic types, including references, are always passed by value?

You can try this and teach yourself Python in 15-weeks: http://blog.agupieware.com/2013/12/online-learning-teach-yourself-python.html. Everything is completely free as well. I'd start with this then move to Java...it'll be a smooth transition.
