A growing number of users in my office have begun using DropBox instead of our Citrix published Apps, and managing security is beginning to become a problem. I'm trying to find a self-hosted alternative, so that I can control the permissions as well as the actual files, and perhaps create a backup routine.

Requirements:
In house hosting
File Encryption
File Permissions (Minimum: Read Only & Read/Write)
Offline Sync
Files are also accessible via website.

Requests:
Support for mobile devices. (Apple and Android)
Simple, non-threatening user interface.
Does not require traffic to go through 3rd party networks.

We are willing to purchase software, or potentially pay monthly for an application such as this. Any thoughts?

We do use sharepoint, but i was unaware it offered an offile file-sync option. Is it built in, or download from Microsoft?

Well I am not sure on the specifics of your application and I do not use sharepoint myself but my brother who does just about anything I can think of with sharing files uses it. I think what you are looking for used to be called groove, now it would be workspace.

Owncloud should suit your needs, best thing is that it is free.

owncloud looks great.

After replacing my Synology NAS with my own built home server I've been looking for some software to replace Synology's amazing WebUI file access and CloudStation functionality.

This looks like it should finally do the trick. I'll probably install it tonight.

Accellion (as far as I know) doesn't support file permissions on an individual basis. But it does support permissions within workspaces of that nature which I guess matches the requirement) Looks a solid product though (evaluating it at the moment)
