I'm not even sure that it's alright to post this here, but . . .I guess here goes. . .

I've got a Sega 32x that I've had for a number of years. .a friend gave it to me, non-working.

Well, I'm pretty sure that I"ve found the chip that's causing the issues. .think it's burnt out somehow. . anyhow. . .if anyone knows about this board, and you're looking at it with the power socket, and Vi/Vo ports toward you, it's the tiny black square chip that's just to the right of the power socket. 4 points connected to the mainboard, with the following inscribed on the top:

R C
0 1
T

That's all that's on there. . .I'm alright at soldering, and think I could replace it, if anyone knows whether this is a basic chip, that I could get from Radioshack or something. . .?

hmmm... try futurlec and see if they have what you're looking for. there are plenty of retailers that just sell chips. i'd try that...

Thanks much! I'll check them out. . .off to a class right now, but much appreciated!

Radioshack here (of course) didn't carry what I"m looking for, and was trying to tell me that he's sure it's not the chip. . . he hadn't even LOOKED at it. .so I had to point out the burn to him. . . "oh. . .yea, I guess it probably IS that chip".

but if the chip was messed up... wouldn't there have to be a bad component that messed up the chip in the first place?
