I just received a FREE computer!!!! Of course, it's a piece of crap PII450 compaq en series desktop.

But just looking at this thing makes me want to go home for lunch and get my dremmel. This thing is begging me to paint it black and mod the sh!t out of it.

Has anyone ever seen these things modded for htpc use? Obviously it would need a new mobo, cpu & ram for htpc uses.

Maybe I'll just make an mp3 component for my stereo out of it, and leave the current hardware in. That should be enough to play mp3s. I could make it completely silent....

If anyone has seen pics of a similar system, let me know! I'd like to see what others have done to these.

It's both. At 12.53" wide, 14.85" deep, and 3.55" tall...it's SFF.
 
reminds me of the good ol days were the moniter went on top of the case lol, but i say mod the hell out of it. Paint it throw a plaxiglas window, lights, and fans.

ehhhhhhh.. still big enough to hold a standard atx mobo. Though probably matx for psu room.

Though whats the true definition of SFF?
 
Since I have no $$$ left after my aria experiment, I think I'll leave it "as is" internally (except a replacement fan on the psu. In the future it will get new guts and a slot loading dvd drive. I'm thinking all black and a flat piece of shiny acrylic for the front with nothing but a power button & dvd slot.

The case is built like a friggin' tank! It weighs a ton (all steel), but is very high-quality. I'm impressed.
 
Should look sweet, leave some updates if you follow through with it.
