My bro got a Hercules prophetview 920 Pro DVI and im jealous its a great LCD. Im looking to upgrade my measly Packard Bell 15" which I think has a pixel response higher than 25ms.

I played a few games on the hercules and I was stunned, much better colour than my 15" I didnt notice any ghosting or blur when playing counterstrike and ut2003/4 (probably so used to my >25ms LCD that I just didnt care to look for it).

Well I wanna get a new LCD and of course everyone is saying how good the 710t is, but I dont want to be disappointed after using the hercules. Anyone have both or been able to compare them?

On paper the 710t is better but these numbers dont tell you how it will perform in games and grey to grey situations.

Your thoughts please.

From my limited knowledge, I doubt you'd be disappointed at all. The 920 didn't have any blistering specs, but you'll have to wait for those who own a 710T to arrive for more in-depth answers.
I'm considering a 17 incher myself, and the consensus pick over on the hexus.net forums is the Iiyama E431S (16ms). It can be found for £289 in the UK, which is a relative bargain, and the magazine PC Pro gave it their award for best 15-17" monitor.

Thanks for the reply

On this forum and elsewhere people are saying that the 920 (hydis) is good even though its specs arent the best, especially in games. Because its grey to grey performance is better than the 12ms and 16ms AU optronics and is a real 20ms 16.7mil where as AU are only 12/16ms if its produces less colours than 16.2million.

Does anyone know what panel technology the Iiyama E431S uses? I would guess its an AU.

Theres bound to be someone out there who has seen or owned both a hydis panel and a samsung 710t. please reply

Someone must have tried or owned a Hercules 920/Hyundai Q17/ Acer AL1721 (Hydis) and a Samsung 710T. Please reply

Some say that the 710T is 24bit because its better than the 172X, but I have seen emails from samsung saying it is 16.2M colors and some have commented on the lack of color seperation with photoshop's color pallette. I dont want to sacrifice color for performance.

For the people waiting for the 10ms hydis panels (I was one of them), its not going to have 16.7M colors. Its got 16.2mil as you can see Here . Im kinda disappointed finding this out.
