Hey all:
I'm looking to upgrade my video card and I was looking for some ideas about a good card for some gaming as well as all around stuff. My current system is configured as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHz
Gigabyte GA-P35 -DS3L/S3L Motherboard
4 GB DDR2 800 MHz
nVidia 8600 GTS 256Mb

Also I was wondering what kind of performance reduction (if any) what I can expect since my motherboard is PCIe x16 and all the new vid cards are PCIe 2.0 x16. Thanks.

You won't see any performance reduction with the new PCIe 2.0 cards on your regular old PCIe motherboard.

Whats your price range?
Whats the native rez of your monitor

That'll be a problem, since I believe that PSU only has one PCIe power connector

plus, the specs of that GTX 260 I linked
525W PCI Express-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 38A or more

How many HDDs and optical drives do you have

that psu will have no problem powering a gtx260 if he has a basic system with only 1 dvd and hd. also any gtx260 should come with a splitter for the other 6 pin.

OP a gts250 1gb or 4850 1gb would be a huge jump for you. whatever card you get I would bump that cpu up a little bit though.

1 Hd and 1 dvd drive
gts250 would be a massive jump for a decent price. I would do that and bump your cpu a little closer to 3.0. if you dont mind spending a little more then a gtx260 would be a really strong card for 1680x1050 but you would certainly need to oc that cpu a little to get full potential out of that card.
