My firefox and Chrome cache is dump to my RAM drive. And I never use IE.

And yet, each day, I see current day (today) cache file under temporary internet files/content.ie5

what software is using these cache? And can I pipe these to the RAM drive?

Many windows components use IE for html rendering, as do other 3rd party apps. You could set the temp file location in IE options-browser history-settings-move location, to the ram drive.

thanks for the tip. I always thought it's for IE only as the name of the folder says contents of IE5

It is IE - just that 3rd party tools are embedding it to take care of HTML. It could be any number of things that are actually using it - a custom help viewer, dynamic splash screen/message of the day, etc.

this is strange. The Move button moves the temp. internet files to my RAM drive. And it works. But after I shut down the machine, it default back to c:\....temp internet files....

And there isn't really an Apply button on that
