SED is Dead (?). Love Live FED?

Bah! That title was supposed to read: "Long Live FED!" Ah well. . . I swear english is my first language! :)

If a moderator happens to see this, would you please change the title to "SED is Dead (?). Long Live FED! The title as it stands makes no sense. Doh!

Looking up FED. . . it appears to be the "big brother" of SED. Or, to put it another way, SED was an offshoot of FED. But now, oddly, possibly because of the financial backing of Sony, FED may see the light of day while SED languishes in perpetual development.

All I know is that I would love to actually see either SED or FED (or both!) finally come to market. But I'm starting to lose hope.

I just can't get down with the black levels and other issues inherent to backlit LCDs (etc.).
 
I'm curious about OLED. But black levels are my thing. Are OLED's black levels as good as CRTs/SED/FED?
 
OLED can produce black that is deeper then all current display technologies put together
