Yesterday i had my wideband modem service installed. This is a wireless router that Time Warner installs. You have no access to the router and cannot set up your own password. The tech. give you a password at the time of the installation. Doesnt this seem unsecured?
I mean the tech. has the password to every router he installs.
Am I being paranoid?
thanks

Put a firewall behind it if you are that worried.

That or as far as I know the device TWC gives you is a gateway (router/modem combo). Give it back to them, go grab a Motorola SURFboard SB6120 and whatever router you wish, hook em up, call TWC to register the MAC address of the new modem, reboot it, and your good to go.

However I can't believe that the router has no management interface. Whats the make and model, we can get you into it somehow.
