What are the best resources to use to study for the Security plus exam?? Is it true that in 2011 U will have to renew your cert every year??
 
Thank you for the reference, hopefully that book is a good read. Unfortunately money is an issue, I am saving up for the Exam, do you know if there are any free Pdf of this book by Mike Myers??

Not legally... but I'm sure there are... "other" methods.
 
Are you allowed to share those other methods, or would that not be permissable on this forum?
 
Have you tried your library? A quick search of my local library shows a copy available.

Oh, if you are able to take the test before the end of the year you will NOT have to re-cert every 3 years. Only after 1/1/2011 will that start.

Do you happen to work for a technology firm or something similar? Maybe they'd pay for the book? My job pays for materials and vouchers for about any cert I want to take. I had to pay for my own Cisco lab, but that's understandable.
 
I currently attend ITT-Tech, working on my last year of Information Security.....and yes I cannot afford a book, I am really broke,lol!
 
Yes the library is good, the books not so much they are really old, but if your library has the safari system your golden as far as .pdf format tech books go. Just get a card.
 
I don't think I've been in a library since Jr. High. I'm going to go find one tomorrow just for the hell of it.

I used Exam Cram for my A+ and thought it was pretty good, especially covering the specific CompTIA methods (BS stuff you have to know for the test). I'm also using Exam Cram for my Sec+ and am almost finished reading it. I think it's a better book than the A+ version. Taking my cert test this Tuesday.
