The think in question will the seat get too hard or firm down the road. But I use cushion lab cushion would be no big deal. There is a Large version with like a 18.5" seat
After having had two Secret Labs chairs, I wouldn't ever buy another. I actually reviewed one back when they first came out about five years ago. Within the 30 days I had it before writing the review, I liked it. I had pretty good things to say about it and there in lies the problem with that type of review. You don't get long enough to be able to get the long term picture for how a product holds up over time. After having two for a total of five years, I can say the Titan and Titan XL are pieces of shit. At least, if you need to use it for 10-12+ hours a day. It will not last unless you are rail thin and don't weigh anything. (More on that later.)
On my first Titan, the pleather cracked in about two years. The arms fell apart and the stupid elastic that held the headrest on didn't do its job anymore. Also, out of the box the arm adjustment height holes were not drilled the same. So I couldn't have the arms at the exact same height. It wasn't off by a huge amount, but by the time I noticed it I was way past the return period. The second one I got had major improvements, mainly that the headrest and arm rests were magnetically attached and the former were now replaceable. Out of the box, mine arm rest material wasn't cut correctly, so when you press the adjustment button, it never locks in place allowing the rest to move forward and back.
The biggest issue with Secret Labs chairs in my opinion, is their absolute BULLSHIT weight ratings. On their website it says the following:
However, that's complete bullshit. I typically weight between 240 and 265lbs. and I've flat out worn out two sets of casters. None of the casters on the Secret Labs site are rating for anything more than 220lbs. I get about a year out of a set of casters before they shit out their bearings and fall apart. The wheels on the factory set wore down against my LVP flooring, the roller blade wheels I got the second time around still look good, but the bearings are all shot out. And my pleather has cracked again.
I know a lot of people who are over 350lbs. that use these chairs or people of similar weight to me. They don't lean back as much as I do and they don't sit in their chairs as much as I do. I work from home and I am a gamer. Naturally, I use my chair more than a person should. As for the padding longevity, that gives up for me at the three year mark. It flattens out and it feels like you are sitting on plywood.
I love my Secret Labs Magnus Pro desk, but the chairs throat diseased whale cock. I can't imagine the Atlas would be built any better.
