Secondary Display for a 24"

I have a Samsung 2443BW (24" 1920x1200, .27mm) and I was thinking about adding a cheaper secondary monitor for reference documents, websurfing, chat while gaming on the 24.

I don't intend to do the eyefinity thing ever (my desk doesn't have enough room for more than 1-2 monitors, and my wife would never go for having a monstrous setup in our dining room anyways), but I do like having a secondary monitor for more screen realestate (had a 7-screen setup at work for a while... not going to lie, it was pretty awesome).

I was hoping to try to match the vertical resolution and screen size of my current display by either getting a 4x3 or rotate a 16x9/10. Anyone have any setups that work? After looking for a little while, it seems that a 20" 1600x1200 is about all that would work (and is probably a little more monitor than I really need), and most of the smaller-resolution monitors (widescreen or traditional) didn't list if they could be spun to portrait mode or not (presumably because they can't).

I envy the 30" crowd, since there seem to be lots of options for coordinated smaller monitors on the periphery, are there any for the 24"?

Hmm.. Dell has a 19" P190S monitor that can pivot into portrait mode. You may not want to spend $253 for a 19" monitor though

Nothing much works with a 24". Your best match would be a 21" 4:3 1600x1200, but these are so expensive(and rare) you may as well get another 24".

As far as pivoting a 19", too tall, even pivoting a 17", the 17" will be slightly taller. Not to mention the vast majority of 17&19" panels are TN. TN in portrait mode is most unpleasant.

Damn, Snowdog is right. Hehe I just measured a 24" 2408WFP with one of my IBM 19" displays and yah it will be too tall by about 2" if the 19" were in portrait mode.

Seems like I'm screwed then...

I would get another 24" but I don't really have the desk space for 2 (stupid multifunction printer...). I guess I can just take an old Viewsonic 19" (lower rez, 1280x1024 iirc) that I have in my closet and just set it on the side for now. It won't be pretty, but it sounds like there's no real cost-effective solution that will be.

Thanks for the input everyone.
