I installed 3x64GB Crucial M4s into my WHS/FlexRAID (2 in R1) and an old laptop (1). Since then the two in the server have run perfectly. About a month or two ago the drive in the laptop (Inspiron E1505, IDE mode [no AHCI], Win7 x64, TRIM enabled) started getting very slow, then freezing, then bluescreening with an error code that basically said no data drive or connection. The laptop would restart and would post with "No drive detected." So I contacted Crucial and got the "let the SSD power cycle on a Desktop," so I did that. Worked for about a day and then did the same thing. Tried scanning it with HDTune and it red blocked after about 5 minutes, then it completely stopped detecting on the OS (Win7 x64) and dropped off the disk management list.
So I broke the R1 on the server, put one of those drives into the laptop, and RMA'd the failing/ed M4. Got the new M4 back a while later, put it in server, rebuilt mirror, and no issues for about a month or two. Last night the drive in the laptop started doing the same slow, freeze, BSOD, no detect cycle. I'm going to try to power cycle on my desktop, but I have no hope that it will fix the issue.
All drives are at latest firmware, so it's not the 5200 hr bug. I've heard there were some issues lately with M4s, but I can't find anything except for the 5200hr bug. Anyone having similar issues or know of problems with non-AHCI systems? I have a Samsung 830 that's run perfectly in my Latitude 6400 for about six months with zero issues.
