after running seatools for dos long test ,it is supposed to give me an option for repair the drive, if it is a segate drive, but i have run the long test and it did not give me this option, has any body got an idea as to why?

Thanks

long test should read every sector and if there is a sufficient number of errors (determined by the vendor) it should tell you that the drive failed the test. I don't recall any repair option. With that said if you want to repair sectors a good way to do this is to overwrite them with a full format, The drive will automatically remap bad sectors when writing.

If you need to keep your data the best option is to copy the drive to a new one ASAP. A second option is a badblocks (linux utility) non-destructive test.
