Just setup a new system last night consisting of an e6300, gigabyte ds3, x1900xt, 2gb patriot ddr2, wd raptor 74gb sata, wd 320gb sata, nec 3550a and a regular lite on dvd rom. clocked it up to 3.15ghz and was running 2 instances of prime 95 for 2 hours and went to bed while i let it run. i wake up and the computer is off. switch an antec true power II 550 watt and it boots fine so i try the s12 again and nothing. did i just get unlucky with it dying because i had to rma an s12 before for comatibility issues with a dfi nf4 motherboard.

I assume you have the 500W S12?

Sounds like bad luck, as I've heard no bad about Seasonics. They are reasuringly expensive...

oh i thought i posted it but i guess not, i have the s12-600

Yea, that PSU has plenty of power. Sounds like you got a lemon, RMA it. (and be glad it didn't take any of your parts down with it)

it is an A2 but what i was hearing last night was some high pitched whining fizzing sound which i thought was my motherboard but i'm going to assume it was my power supply dying.

Don't take this the wrong way but i'm not sure I would leave my computer running overnight while I sleep with a whining fizzing noise.
