Hi,

I recently got a Seasonic M12 to replace my Antec SP500 which is making weird noises. So I finally got around to plugging it in today, and I pressed the power switch... and nothing happened. I have tried jump starting th PSU (green wire to black wire) and I tried removing all the plugs from the PSU except for the ATX plug. Nothing seems to work, I can't even get the fans to spin.

Did I get a dead PSU?

not trying to be a smartass here, but did you make sure the cord is plugged in good to the wall and the PSU, and that the outlet has power? Also did make sure the power switch is On and the voltage selector is set to the correct voltage (I assume you're on 115v since you're not complaining of a fireball.)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the plug is in and that part works okay. I think I figured it out, or at least I made it work. Apparently it was working okay when i unplugged everything, but it is so darn quiet that I couldn't tell. :D

The problem was with the floppy drive plug. I tried unplugging the cables one at a time until I was able to get it to start. When I unplugged the floppy power cable, it started up. I am not sure why, but I reseated the power plug for the floppy drive, and everything seems to be working. Maybe it was plugged in wrong?

Probably, on floppy drives the power and data connectors are often times not keyed in any way and therefore it's really easy to connect either cable wrong. Often times you will plug the power connector in with one pin hanging loose, and this will cause the PSUs overcurrent protection to kick in and prevent it from powering on.

Glad you got everything sorted. :)
