The only search function is the global one under the menu button in the upper left side under [H]

Also my username doesn't appear in portrait but is clickable
 
Yes, to expand the menu you will need to turn your phone to landscape. Just so much we can put on the screen at one time. On mobile is a defaulted to all forums. You will need to click to get the menu to select a single forum.

That is something I can look into making happen. A Search Current Thread tickbox would be nice there, agreed.

When you said "this option" I was not sure you were seeing the search at all.....so I was not sure what you were asking exactly.
