Search scanned PDFs?

I have to work with some PDFs that are really just a collection of scanned pages which, as you may or may not know, are impossible to search.

This is extremely frustrating since they range anywhere from 250-1000+ pages.

Does anyone know of any software that allows you to convert to text or otherwise search a "scanned" PDF?
 
If you're using Adobe Acrobat Professional, you can "Scan the text with OCR" which will recognize the words and thus allow you to search the text.

Otherwise, just google for a "pdf converter" application - it should turn up a few, and convert it to a .txt or whatever you prefer for searching.
