Search is Back Feedback

With the 3 words search reenabled, it's still lightning fast :D

I redid a search for X38 and it came out correctly.

Awesome search engine :)

The results should now be looking far enough back. By default they were limited to a certain number of results. We have bumped that to 5000...should be more than enough. Still finding some anomolies though....

Working wonderfully.

Could you answer me a question? Are you planning on keeping the feature where it is searching back for all posts instead of the first 100 or so.

For instance If I search for all posts made by myself it returns all 2500 or so posts.

I really like that feature and hope its here to stay..

I see no reason to limit it. The two main reasons for buying the new server were A.) The current one is getting a bit long in the tooth and I am expecting a big failure soon that I don't want to have to fix and upgrade around and B.) We wanted a much more robust search and tread post/read times.

We should be on the new server soon and I see it being 5 years before we need an upgrade in the database department.

My searches seem to work but they are not sorted correctly. Any ideas?

We use Search Result Sharing feature in VB - In order to conserve resources, vBulletin will allow search results to be shared among users for one hour. The downside of this is that search results can appear out of order if a thread is updated in the interim.

For the most part they should be fine in terms of order, but until you give me more details about the search issue you are seeing, there is little I can tell you.

Funny, I can get to the sub section but not the main index page (Maintenance) :)

I seem to be having trouble with the search feature....

I noticed that searching for the words "circuit city" in the for sale section did not produce my thread, so then I started copy and pasting thread titles to the advanced search and the current threads would not show up.

Am I missing something?

Its coming up now... Is there some sort of time requirement before a thread starts showing up in searches?

Yes, there is....5 minutes. We index new threads and posts every 5 mintues.

Also, you will still need to use parenthesis to search the full phrase. (circuit city)

Showing results 1 to 15 of 2873
Search took 0.89 seconds. Search: Key Word(s): (circuit, city)
