Hello,

I have a Dell server running Server 03 and about 100k scanned documents on it. We currently have to start any searches for documents before we leave in the evening because they can take two to three hours to run. We have been looking at document management software with better indexing functionality to reduce the search times to something more reasonable. Unfortunately the products we have been looking at cost between 3k and 10k dollars to get started. We could live without the management portion of these products if we could find a way to add some sort of fast indexing to the existing setup. Any ideas?

Thanks

My idea is 15K RPM drives with indexing software but you already shot down that idea, lol

15k HD I shot down. Some form of indexing is probably the solution I just dont know what.

I have tried this, does not allow you to add Mapped drives to your search index

I withdraw my last, i figured out how to add map drives to the search, we'll give this a try. Hope it works with Server 2k3

The best way to do this is to have clients use federated search in Windows 7.

The server would have search provider set up, and the clients would add it as a search...

For clients on XP, I think Windows Desktop Search is required to leverage remotely indexed searches, but I haven't played with that much.

All the computer's are windows XP, i know they will not want to upgrade to 7 right now.
I am testing it right now searching on network storage. It seems to work ok. Will not know for sure until we can test it at their location.
