Hey all, not sure if this is the correct forum for HDD questions??
I recently threw together a system using some spare parts (all brand new, unopened)... including a Seagate Barracuda 750Gb/7200/16Mb SATA hdd and an Antec 300 case.
This spin volume is almost inaudible, but the read/write/seek of this drive is so loud that it reminds me of the old 20 - 40Gb IDE hard drives. The drive passes all tests and has been functioning in the system for several months.
I have had smaller 7200.10 drives and they weren't this noisy. Is it inherent of the larger capacity Seagate drives? Is it a common issue of the Antec chassis?? (amplifying the noise?)
All I know is that I haven't had a computer that was this noisy since my first Pent.II, and I'm not liking it!!
