Seagate 600 480GB SSD is a great drive, flash memory is Toshiba's Toggle mode 19nm 2-bit-per-cell MLC NAND - premium stuff. 47 cents per GB for a drive that benches pretty close to my Samsung 840 Pro. This deal is at Tigerdirect, but I bought it through their Amazon storefront so I wouldn't have to enter all billing and payment info at TD.

Really thinking about getting this SSD for my first SSD. Any opinions on it?

I have it my vm server & it seems fast. I haven't tried it in desktop usage.

I've got one in my system now. Flawless and fast, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another if I needed one. Do it.

If the power consumption was lower id get it for my laptop. For a desktop this is a great drive.

Just a small note, this is about 48 cents per GB, not 47. Well unless you call 0.479 as 0.47...

This looks like a pretty good deal for a Samsung Pro-like drive at 480GB. If only they had a 750GB-1TB edition of this on sale.

Are people really being so picky as to whether it's $0.47 or $0.48 per GB? It's a great deal either way.

1. I said it's a "small note".
1.a. SSD price ratios atm are pretty close together to begin with, so a diff of 1 cent is actually all that separates many drives.
2. I'm the only one that pointed it out, so you shouldn't be addressing it to "people". >_>

I was referring to the OPs' post where they didn't calculate the price accurately, not you.

That's kind of a weird revelation, because he wasn't the one "being picky". Nothing in that post sounds picky. I'm also the only one that pointed out the correct ratio in this thread. Terribly misleading references...

But that's just more nitpicking on top of nitpicking...

I'm really hoping the memory makers don't scheme up another "plant accident" that drives prices up...I'd like to see these 480-512GB capacity SSDs under $150-175 by black friday. These SSD deals are getting awesome again!

Get another Seagate 600 480GB and wait until next years tax return for a GPU, or hold off on a larger and cheaper SSD and upgrade my GPU next month? That's what I'm torn on right now.

Last couple black Fridays didn't have good deals on SSDs, the better deals came in the weeks before black friday if I remember correctly. That being said its definitely possible that 480gb ssds could fall to the $180 range at some point between now and the end of the year. This is a very good price for this SSD though.
