Are these safe for raid? I've been running for almost a year with no errors in an external enclosure but i just checked they have ERC disabled and idk if they need their head parking timing disabled as well. Sure they have worked they past year in this enclosure but I'm not going to sit around and wait for them to fail. the ERC can be corrected but it is not a permanent solution as it is lost in a power cycle. I'm wondering if there are permanent solutions maybe even custom firmware?
 
What kind of raid? Hardware? Software? Motherboard onboard? Something in-between like ZFS?
 
They would be "safe" for hardware raid assuming they are on any given cards' HCL.

And I would think that you're going to find very few HBA's that support this drive in RAID. Browsing over the Areca HBA and LSI hba for a very common 9240-8i, I didn't spot it.
