Hey all,
Thinking of picking up a Seagate ST3000DM001 drive just for file storage, as the pair of WD Blue 1TB EZEX drives are already reaching capacity (why can't WDC come out with the larger capacity drives?).
I've read around that these drives are a bit failure prone, not sure if like the 7200.12s but more that usual. (there are a handful of other posts but I thought I'd just link the one from this forum).
My question is - are these drives really un/reliable? I know it may be a tad difficult to qualify/quantify so I guess I'm probably looking for just about any input I can get.
As to alternatives, the WD Blacks up to 4TB (for a big premium) and the EZRX WD Greens up to 4TB are available, though the Black's warranty is basically non-existent in our country for some reason (distributor issue).
Thanks
