Taking pictures with my T3i and all of a sudden it says that it cannot detect the Card. I get worried and stick it in my computer and nope, doesn't recognize. tried a few live disks and such to get it working. Now i'm trying to use DiskTest to recovery and still doesn't detect.

Now i'm trying to format it, figure that it might just work and delete it but at least i can make an attempt to recover it. Nope, it won't format with the camera or on the computer.

Anyone every had a similar problem. Just trying to get my computer to detect the SD card so i can format. It makes a sound whenever a card is inserted or removed, so there are some recognition, but nothing in terms of seeing or accessing the card. Maybe bios is seeing it but software isn't (why i used linux in the first place)

Help, i don't want to lose my pictures from Europe forever!!!

It sounds like the SD card just failed. I've seen it happen before, i'm not sure what data recovery services are available for flash cards but it won't likely be cheap. The data is most likely still on the NAND chips but the controller/interface part of the SD card sounds to be toast, and without that there is no bridge between your device and the data on the NAND chips.

In future I'd avoid having only one copy of unique valuable data such as your photos. As often as possible you should copy new photos to a laptop or PC and ideally also upload to some kind of cloud based storage. Like you said, this is data that cannot be replaced at any cost.
