SD Card Problem

Well, I have a 1gig a-data sd card (150x) that I was using in a casio ex-z120. Something in the camera broke (repair receipt says it was an "internal shutter" problem). Anyway, the memory card must have somehow gotten corrupted when the camera broke.

The camera recognizes the card is in there, but says it's locked no matter what.

My computer's card reader recognizes the card but cannot format it. I try to format in FAT and FAT32, quick and regular, and none works. I always get the message "Windows was unable to complete the format."

I can still see a couple pictures on the card, but I cannot delete them.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Any solutions?
 
I think I know exactly what is wrong with your memory card. You need to check the lock switch on the card. This is most likely what is wrong with your card, I do not think that your camera corrupted the card. Check the lock button located on the left side of the memory card when you are looking at the top where the logo is. See the pic at the bottom of this post for reference. But, anyways, check that first! (If you haven't already)

I wish it were that easy :(

Even in the unlocked position the camera says the card is locked. When it actually IS locked, I get that message in my computer. When it's unlocked, I don't get any message so I'm assuming it's something with the internals, nothing physical.

I think I'll just RMA it back to newegg. I noticed there are a lot of reviews about this model failing on the website..hmm..
 
OK, yes it does sound like your camera ruined your card. Sorry for makin you feel like a n00b. :p It is unusual to have a camera ruin a card, but it has happened. Sorry mate!
