I have a Gateway netbook (LT2802U) that I purchased on Black Friday for $180. Good machine for the price, but it's a bit on the slow side because of the slow cpu and 1GB of memory.

I tried to upgrade its RAM, but it turns out the max RAM possible is 1GB (you can't even access the RAM slots unless you take the entire netbook apart).

I'm desperate, so I'm planning on getting a 4GB or 8GB sd card and use it for readyboost. My question is, how much of a speed boost will I get?

ReadyBoost is virtually useless. Maybe you can make that thing boot a few seconds faster, but once it is up and running, it won't help. 1024 MB is not enough of RAM, no matter how you look at it. That, and of course the Intel Atom N455 CPU that apparently comes with the Netbook you mentioned are going to be severely limiting your user experience.

If you want to try it, use a small but fast SD card. Don't go 8 GB Class 10, just use a 2 GB card. You'll be wasting your money otherwise.
