Sorry, this item has been discontinued and will no longer be available.

This message (or similar) has greeted me on all of my favorite on-line providers. I would like to replace the stock heatsink on my 146 and try some overclocking. I find it more than a little distressing that after researching the best HSF (Ninja), I cannot purchase it.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I have an absolute inside case clearance of 150mm, so the Infinity and Ultra-120 are out.

Thanks for listening.

i noticed the same thing, i found a company last month that had them for 30$ and i bought two extra. i went to suggest the site to a friend and they too where sold out. i bet they stoped makeing them to sell the infinity instead.

On newegg, they estimate that they will have the Ninja and Ninja plus on the 21st and 22nd, respectively. A few weeks ago, I build a new system with a P180b, DS3 and E6600. I'd been looking for a Scythe Ninja Plus as it's supposed to be the best heatsink for a P180. I think it's a little better than the infinity, and costs less.

If you cant get the Ninja, look into thermalright, they make one called the SI-128 that actually outperforms the Ninja, but its a butt load more expensive.

The other thing to note though is that you really DONT need extra cooling on the Opterons to overclock them. I have a 148 and i overclocked it 300mhz on stock cooling before i needed to get any sort of extra cooling.

just something to think about.

Thanks to all for the reply. My computer is in Florida and ambient temperature during the summer months hovers around 30 c. with the A.C. on and 32 or higher with it off. Given those high temperatures, I am looking for the best air cooler available.

If the Ninja is still not ready for purchase at the end of the week, I will think about the SI-128.

Personally, i would suggest the SI-128 over the ninja simply because it cools better. Even though its gunna run you about 20 or 30 dollars more than the ninja (30 is if you get a good fan for it). However it does require a stronger fan since the fins on it are closer together than they are on the ninja. You will need to get a fan that can do atleast 80CFM or around there.

Also, 30-32C idle is not terrible at all for a processor. Right now my ambient air temp in the room is at 70F and my processor is 27-30C. I wouldnt worry about your temps all that much personally unless those are stock temps...and you plan on overclocking.

The Ninja is actually not a discontinued product. Give those people at Scythe a call, they will let you know that they are actually releasing a revised version with updated mounting hardware. The representative didn't give me an exact date all they said was by the end of September, but he did say the mounting hardware would be easier to install and will probably support AM2

Thank you for the update Altron. I went to a etailer listed on Scythe's web site and found this on the Ninja page. I can wait the ten days to fourteen days I guess unless impatience takes over.

Notice NiNJA is curenttly Out Of STOCK !

You can place a pre\order and in September 26, When the new ones come in you will be the
first to have it.
