Anyone bought the Scythe Ninja with the fan from the egg? Thinking about getting it, but not sure how quiet the fan is (I like my system to be VERY silent and have replaced every part except my Venus12 HSF) or how well it works. Was also thinking about using a spare Vantec Stealth on the Ninja instead, but I can't figure out how to use the fan monitor on it. It looks like it plugs into my mobo, but then how I control it dynamically?

Other thing is, I'm planning on mounting the Ninja on an ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard in an XBlade case. Anyone had experience with this? Does it fit? If it doesn't, would Newegg just take it back and exchange for something else?

i cant answer all your questions but i can tell you this: the fan that comes with the ninja is very quiet, about 23 dBA and is much quieter than the loud ass 120mm vantec stealths and move probably as much air and i am sure that itll fit in the xblade case ;)

Sounds quiet enough for me. But does it move enough air around to suffice, or should I be buying something that moves more air (in case I decide to overclock)? Also, I take it that you have fit the Ninja in an XBlade case, or are you just making a guess?

I know that the Ninja will fit in my P180, which is 8.1 inches wide. Your case is 7.9 inches wide, so if you measure from the socket to where your case side panel would go, it needs to have 6 inches to clear the heatsink.

As for the fan speed, with the Ninja it honestly doesn't matter too much. Check out the review at silentpcreview.com to see how well it scales with a nexus at 12v, 7v, and 5v. The reason temperatures don't change very much with higher powered fans is because the heatsink was designed with passive use in mind. As long as it fits, I can wholeheartedly recommend the heatsink.

Cool. As long as we're talking about "fitting", and to avoid me having to call Newegg and wait on the phone for half an hour, there shouldn't be any problems fitting on an ASUS A8V-Deluxe with a Athlon64 3500+ proc, should there? All the specs I've seen have only listed a few FX 939 models and then sometimes the general "Athlon64" will be listed. I'm assuming this means me?

It certainly won't have difficulty fitting onto your processor, and after having done a google I noticed that there are a few sigs with that motherboard and the ninja on it. So basically as long as it fits into your case, you're good to go.
