It's a little loud, and it screeches. Like a high pitched screeching sound. Is this normal for these fans?

Is there any way to control fan speed with a software?
 
Definitely not normal for those fans, not sure about using software to control the speed though, i simply just hooked mine up to my fan controller.
 
mines pretty darn quiet. and I'll second the fan controller, I don't like powering fans from the MB.
 
I have a Sythe fan and its pretty quiet; I would have to say that you got a bad apple. Would you mind giving us the model number?

SCNJ-1000P.

I used a zalman fan controller, but it still screeches. Higher, louder pitch when it's on full power, lower and less noticeable screech when its on low rpm.

=[ I think I need to replace the fan. What's a good replacement?
 
I use a yate-loon 120mm, its quiet even at full blast and moves a decent amount of air. my x2 at 2.5GHz/1.5v never gets above 50C, idles at 32ish
