I am thinking about getting a Scythe Ninja 3 and running it without the fan on an i7 920?

Has anyone tried this? What are the temps?

How loud is the fan set on low?

Thank you very much in advance. All is greatly appreciated.

i would just get a silent fan/use their fan at low. the ninja has one of the largest fin spacing so it still works well with silent/low db fans. i run a sythe ninja 1 passive on a q6600 OC'ed but it is in a antec 900 it has a 120 and 220 mm fan pulling a ton of air though the corner of the case so it doesn't quite count as passive imo. if i turn the 2 year fans off it gets too hot for comfort.

i am not sure about the fan that comes with it, might check a review to see what the sound levels are at low. is so pick up a silent fan.

Scythe Ninja 3 will work well on the i7 fanless, but of course you still need very good airflow. Remember to double check your motherboard compatibility as the mount needs to come with the i7 mount and not just the 775 mount as old models didnt come with the newer mount and not all motherboard support the 775 hole pattern on i7 boards. Also check with your MB for clearance on your motherboard for the mount as some will not fit properly. Personally I would still use a slow spinning virtually silent fan, but I am sure you have your reasons. Good luck.

I also assume you dont intend to overclock (which is a shame) but if you do expect to overclock, be reasonable with fanless as your heat will increase quite significantly.
