SCSI vs. SATA

I am about to build a dual Opty 254 using the TYAN K8WE with built in SCSI. Looking at storage review, I am considering adding a Netcell Revo card and using the Raptor 150's instead of using a Maxtor 15k and the on board SATA. Any thoughts or advice?
 
Would the disk(s) be serving more than 10 people at a time or be a database server?

If not, then go SATA. No sense in throwing your money away on 15k Maxtor Atlas' unless they will see their intended usage pattern.

Question, what is their intended usage pattern? I was looking at it from a speed standpoint and this system will only be used by me.
 
SCSI is geared more towards multi-user, high load, random access on the drive which is why you see them mainly in high volume, enterprise storage solutions. It will really shine when you start getting alot of requests on the drive. Sata is geared more towards the single user area with fewer random access' qeued up.

Wait a little bit because Tyan is releasing a TARO Card for SAS, you get SCSI speed and reliability and you have the option of hooking up SATA drives.

Edit: the card is expected to cost $130 - 200 I think.
