I am trying to install a SCSI hd to my NF3 250 gb motherboard, it is an adaptec 2120 controller card and a Seagate Cheetah 36 GB harddrive.

Here is what is happening:

After the system boots it goes to the scsi card bios screen and boots normally, then it lists the drive, then it says no logical drive found.

WTH?

Then it says no bios installed

I am trying to install Server 2003 onto it

Thanks guys

A terminator is a little black device that you plug in after the last drive on a SCSI chain. It basically prevents signals from bouncing back from the end of the bus, "terminating" the signal. It is required for the bus to function properly.

If you have a SCSI terminator installed (most new SCSI cables do) you might want to check the order of your boot devices. There's an option in the BIOS that says "Addable" or "Bootable." If you press enter on the correct option you should get a menu stating which order your drives are being booted it. One should say something about booting PCI and the other options will be for IDE HDD's.

Look around your manual for "Int 19h". This is the technical name for what bootable PCI cards deal with.

The 2120 is a raid controller. What it is doing is looking for a raid array when it says looking for logical drive. You need to go into the bios of the controller and read in the manual how to setup a single drive to run on the controller.

Yeah, terminator would be a good thing, or at least, make sure the drive is terminated or set to single ended mode if it's alone.
