scsi on os, now what

hey im putting a 20gb 15k rpm drive in my cmputer fr the os and i was wonderin A) if ill see a difference as opposed to my 7200rps 40 gig hdd, and B) what i should do about storage? if i connect an ide hdd for programs n such will it take away performance from my scsi? thnx
 
Anything you want to load quickly goes on the SCSI drive (until it's full), and yes it will blow away your 7200RPM drive. Put stuff like MP3s/movies on a PATA drive that's as big as you can afford. There's a sticky on what's a good drive to buy. Having a PATA storage drive will not slow down access to stuff that's entirely on the SCSI drive. If you are working on stuff that's on the PATA drive, then it will be slower, but capacity on SCSI is not cheap.
