SCSI ID problem

I understand how SCSI IDs work, and I know how to set them. However, I have a drive that.... Well, no matter how I set it's ID, it always takes ID0. It's a 50 pin SCSI drive, requiring jumpers to set the ID. Sometimes, I can set the ID on the drive, but not ever above 9. I need to use the first 7 channels on the adapter for a 68 pin drive and 6 SCA drives. So, anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Its another 4 gig quantum drive, which is probably 90% of the problem. :p

I might be talking complete rubbish here, but I'm thinking that your device is a 8-bit SCSI and hence it will only be allowed to be set to address ID between 0-7...

Have you dug around in the adapter's bios and seen if something is overriden there?

I don't think so... It has the option to use the higher ids... Sometimes, it won't use anything but ID 0 if it's set to go above 4. I'm going to consider this drive DOA, and just chuck it out teh window. :p

Could this be the work of S.C.A.M.?

And remember, the adapter has an ID as well (often times, 7)

50pin is 8bit and uses ID's 0-7 and 68 & 80pin are 16bit and use ID's from 0-15.

What drive do you have?

Weird? I thought it was opposite... Damn. I'm going to have to hook up 9 drives at a time instead of the crappy 6...
