Screwed-up Catalyst Control Center

I've been running the latest 8.7 Catalyst drivers for my 4850 since they were released with no issues. CCC has been working fine, letting me change AA settings and such, until today. It will still launch, but Windows gives an error sound when it pops up. Same sound as though you clicked outside of a configuration dialog, and it beeps at you, indicating the dialog should be closed before proceding.

All tabs and options are visible in CCC, but clicking to change anything or move/close the CCC dialog gives the same unresponsive beep. Buttons in CCC do not depress when clicked. Task manager does not show CCC as unresponsive, but obviously something is not right here. Ending the task closes it with XP whining about error reporting. Both re-launching CCC and rebooting give the same result: annoying beep, unresponsive.

Anyone else have problems with CCC?

Maybe try driver cleaner and re-install ?

If driver cleaner and a re-install doesn't fix it.. try the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility (by Microsoft)

It is very good about wiping all registry entries having to do with whatever program you tell it to wipe.

thanks, I never knew about the microsoft installer cleanup utility, will definitely check it out
